Some of you will have got pets for Christmas and many of you already have cats, dogs or other animals - but are you a responsible pet owner?
The Animal Welfare Act states that anyone who is responsible for a pet must meet its welfare needs. These include:
- a proper diet
- somewhere suitable to live
- any need to be housed with, or apart from, other animals
-allowing animals to express normal behaviour
- protection from pain, suffering, injury and disease
