Can you recommend a book?
It would be good to hear about the kind of books staff and students like to read. Please post a comment and include the title of your favourite book, author and a very brief outline of the story if possible.
I really enjoy reading crime fiction - my favourite author at the moment is Michael Connelly. There are also quite a few authors - such as Kathy Reichs Patricia Cornwell Karin Slaughter and Simon Beckett - who write about people working in the field of forensic science and using their skills to help solve crimes (a bit like CSI!). These can be a bit gruesome but they are interesting - it's a job I would have liked - if I had been less squeamish and much much better at science!
Darren Shan's new book, The Birth of a Killer, is even better than his previous books, if possible. It is about Larten Crepsley's childhood; how he became a vampire, e.c.t.. It links to his other books, but you don't have to of read them first.
Just finished The 39 Steps by John Buchan. The story of an innocent man on the run from both the police and the bad guys. Really enjoyed it!

ReplyDeleteA Sense of Freedom - By Jimmy Boyle.
ReplyDeleteA original ganster from the Gorbals. His childhood, his crimes and his prison life. Contain strong language and lot of reference to violence.
The Hunger Games - By Suzanne Collins
